Counting cards could make you a lot of money online
November 1, 2008
As I wrote in my pervious articles, one of the greatest sources of a higher traffic is the optimization of the proper keywords and in order to do this we must be able to search out high trend, low density keywords or what I call personally as HITLOD.
To discover HITLOD keywords, there is no need to search for them as they will just come to you suddenly like a brilliant idea. Just like how great artists and inventors get inspired oftentimes.
I have also discovered great keywords when I go about my day to day experiences. For example, after I watched the movie 21 I began to search the internet for the real story behind the movie. (I always do this if I encounter a movie which says “based on a true story. I normally do not rely entirely on the Hollywood account because they often stretch the story too far to fit the script)
The story behind 21 the movie is based on the book “Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six MIT Students Who Took Vegas for Millions” by Ben Mezrich. Although a work of fiction, the events in the book are loosely based on the life of Jeffrey Ma, a brilliant MIT student who was a member of the MIT Blackjack Team.
The MIT blackjack team was group of students and ex-students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and colleges who used counting cards techniques to win in the game of blackjack.
Their operation was impressive, very organized and run like a real business. It said that they raked in an estimated $3 million to $5 million U.S dollars by simply counting cards in the game of black jack while playing in casinos worldwide.
According to the group, “Blackjack is a beatable game.” To beat the game you only need to do simple math and master counting cards methods.
I listened to the interviews of Jeffrey Ma and read several articles on the MIT black jack team. I came to realize that people would start searching for information on them after watching the movie. So I tried to do some reasearch on what terms people will use to search for counting cards in the internet. I tried “black jack”, “counting cards in blackjack”, “counting cards”, “how to count cards” or other similar keywords. The best keyword I could find was “counting cards.” I have to admit, I myself got hook to the “counting cards” fever.
As of to date, the keyword “counting cards” has been cited in 443,000 sites. The graph in Google trends shows a spike. Most likley this occurred somewhere after the movie was released on March 2008 in theaters.
If you notice, the search for “counting cards” only began in 2008. It can be concluded that interest in the keyword “counting cards” was due to the release of the movie 21.
“Counting cards” may be a good HITLOD keyword and it’s being high trend could only be temporary. After several years, months or even weeks I believe people will stop searching for the “counting cards” keyword after interest in the movie has waned.
They popularity of the “Counting cards” keyword may be short lived but as of now it is still a HITLOD keyword. So sieze the moment ! As long as the movie is still popular, people will continue to search for the “counting cards” keyword. It is sure to bring thousands of visitors to your site if you have properly optimized it. What are you waiting for ? Blog about “counting cards” today and count the traffic and with it the money that comes to your site !
Link Cloak and no follow
November 1, 2008
Many internet masters will inform you that it is imperative to stay ahead of the pack. One thing you should take note of is link cloaking and no follow tags.
Without the use of these little wonders you will stay an also ran on the internet, so expend a little extra time and read this article and you will succeed.
Link Cloaking
This is an absolute must if you don’t want to have your hard earned visitors cut out the middle man and go straight through to the destination.Simply by adding some simple code, JavaScript you can cloak your link and keep your customers. There are many ways to do this but why not search for a cloaking script that does it online for free.
No Follow Tags
The heavy amount of traffic on the internet these days it is hard to get noticed. It is unfortunate that when you add a link to your page, google will follow it, this can deplete the rank of your page, meaning, it will lose its popularity.
The only reason to add a no follow is so that the search engines will not deviate around your page and going to another destination.
It is important to remember when making a cloak link to add a no follow tag, this way you achieve two things at once.
Doing both of these actions can be quite expensive, both in the time spent to add them to your page and the possible monetary cost involved in purchasing the programs.
There may be free programs online and it is always worth checking out this option before handing over your hard earned money. Look for a script that does both options, cloaking and no follow.
If you can locate a good script, you should be able to instantly set up your page with cloaked links and no follow. Just rememeber to set up ALL your links with properly formatted alternatives.

This was very popular some years back, and some people say it no longer works. But the truth is that any link is better than no link. Reciprocal links can and still do work.
Most important in SEO is too ascertain that the links are from a site on a similar or related topic to yours. This links count much more than links from unrelated sites.
One Way Linking
One way links are harder to obtain, but simply put, they are the best kind of link hands down. So although they are harder to come by, this is where you should focus your efforts.

Fresh Content is Vital to a Website
October 30, 2008
It is safe to say that most people realize that search engines, like Google, value content. This can be a little annoying sometimes, when you are trying to incorporate fresh content, on a continuous basis, that is also natural, into your website. Avoiding redundancy is often difficult, but for your site to rank, content needs to be continually streaming into your site. Here are a few tips to help you along in this process.
1. Blogs- Every site could stand to have a blog added in its format. You don’t need to have one, but if you can, by all means, add one. Be sure to link the blog to your homepage and to highlight the most current articles on your homepage, as well. You may think you don’t have anything to blog about, but here are some ideas to change your mind.
2. Article collections- You can choose to use these articles as resources on your webpage. Be sure categorize them using your keywords and update them continually.
3. User generated content: customer reviews of products (offer a coupon if they fill one out), customer testimonials, customer suggestions, customer top 5 lists.
4. Including a paragraph about a company that is related to yours, while utilizing affiliate links will create more income.
Using any of these ideas will certainly increase your effectiveness as an online business. You will also be gaining value in relation to search engines. Creating a more user friendly website will only increase your revenue.
Using Search to Mitigate/Reduce Business Risks
October 29, 2008
Talk to most people and ask why they engage in search engine marketing and they’ll answer “because it gets results”. There’s no question; search is a very important part of the marketing mix.
That said, many people and businesses do not necessarily understand all the inherent benefits of search. Consider for example, the ability of search to mitigate or reduce certain types of business risks. Accordingly, the remainder of this post will assess the numerous ways that search can help mitigate or reduce business risks. In particular:
1. Marketing Channel Diversification: the more marketing channels bringing in positive ROI (return on investment) to a company, the better. If a company relies too heavily or just one or a few channels, that really is not a solid foundation for a successful business model (consider Porter’s Model below). The company’s bargaining power is ultimately reduced.
2. Economic Risk Diversification Often, economic conditions in one country or region are not the same as in other countries or regions. For companies marketing their wares/services in but one country/region, all their proverbial eggs are in one basket so to speak. Consider the possible fate of a company marketing its services only in a small mining town dominated by one employer, when the employer pulls the plug on the mine. Instead, the company could have anticipated this probability, and started promoting its services via search in other surrounding towns in advance of the closure.
3. Regulatory and Compliance Risk Diversification Sometimes, political decisions can have catastrophic impacts on companies eg. the U.S.’s embargo against Cuban products. If you were a Cuban cigar distributor at the time of the introduction of the Helms-Burton Act, and the U.S. was your only market you would have been in financial trouble. But now imagine, if you were already marketing Cuban cigars in 50 other countries around the world, which search makes infinitely easier. The impact would have been dramatically reduced.
4. Reputation Management Risks Occasionally, negative press surfaces about companies, and while sometimes merited, other times its completely unjustified. Often, this type of press or negative mentions appear for your business name in the search results. When this occurs, or often even in advance of this possibility occurring, search can be used to reduce the probability that these results will ever be seen.
5. Staffing Issue Risks In industries requiring specialized knowledge, it can be difficult to attract resumes from qualified individuals using standard approaches. All to often, you’re drawing from a very limited pool of individuals, or from expensive headhunters. Obviously both methods dramatically increase the cost of hiring and paying qualified individuals. More and more however, attracting strong candidates occurs online, and search can play a big role. It can also help to keep the employment prospect funnel full at all times.
In order to determine if search can help you mitigate business risks, this Toronto SEO would encourage most business to do an introspective analysis of such risks, identify what your risks are, the probability of each occurring, and then devise (simple) solutions to mitigate those risks both with and without search.
